Our Religion

We believe that all religions are essentially the same. The packaging and the vocabulary may be different, but the message, whether you call it salvation, nirvana or fulfillment, is basically the same. In "The World's Religions," Huston Smith writes that the wisdom traditions (religions) indentify three basic virtues: humility, charity and veracity.

Humility is "the capacity to regard oneself in the company of others as one, but not more than one."

Charity "is to regard one's neighbor as likewise one, as fully one as oneself."

Vecarity "extends beyond the minimum of truth-telling to sublime objectivity, the capacity to see things exactly as they are."

We put our faith in ourselves and our fellow human beings. We affirm the dignity and worth of all people trusting in their fundamental morality and ability to determine right from wrong. We commit ourselves to the search for truth and knowledge.

Whether you believe in a supernatural being or not is irrelevant for us. In the end, it is not about what we believe. Peace is about how we behave in relationships with one another. Our religion is highly personal and we prefer not to give it a name or liken it to any other religion. Doing so would most likely lead to inaccurate assumptions.

Some attempts have been made to create unity among the world's religions, even within a single religion. So far, all have failed. We do not think we can succeed where others have failed so miserably, but we do think we can make significant changes in the world today. The change starts with ourselves.
